Roving Victim Rachel Scott

There are many different versions of where exactly Rachel was when she was shot. Read the following references and make up your own minds. Myself, I am fairly convinced Rachel was shot other than where police said she was.
--The official version--Scott and Castaldo were shot sitting down between the west double doors and the north emergency exit door of library

Saw Scott and Castaldo outside the west doors. (But that was before the shooting broke out. Janine also sees H&K at the top of the stairs, and conveniently says she is the source of early reports indentifying H&K as the prime suspects(via Channel4 cello-phone interview) Methinks Janine is a bit too obliging to the official version of events.)

"She advised that as she and Roberts exited the (upper level west entrance) door she observed both Rachel Scott and a male sitting right outside the door eating lunch. She advised that Rachel Scott and the male were seated approximately five feet apart." She also sees H&K at the top of the stairs.

"He then saw this male shoot two females that were sitting against the wall outside of the west doors by the west exit doors to the library. The girls immediately slumped over. He thought the two suspects were only about 10 feet away from where the girls were shot."

Reference to a piece of scalp, found outside north library door, to the west of the door. [Comment: Rachel was the only person who suffered a head wound in this immediate area, so logically this piece of tissue must have been hers (though no DNA testing was done, as far as I know). But if so, then the shot that hit her in the head must have come from the east of her--from the area of the west doors or even inside those doors. Or Rachel was positioned very near the top of the hill, and the shot came from west of her. But there is no way that this shot could have come from her west side if she was sitting in the place where the IOs said she was sitting.]

[Comment: This quote implies that Rachel was shot while she was somewhere on the stairs.]

Michael Naifeh(EP 1-164)
In the cafeteria with Depew, Fusilier, Grange, Owen, ..."Mr. Naifeh said he saw Rachel Scott get shot.... Mr. Naifeh said Harris was facing Rachel, and was closer to her than Dylan." On page 3878 of the 11K he said only "...there was a girl lying on a grass hill with blood on her leg/abdomen."
Cafeteria witness Seth Dubois(2907)
"At about 11:20, I heard people screaming and gun shots, about 3 shots. I stood up and looked out the windows. I saw a girl outside on the hill near the stairway. She was bleeding from her pant leg. A guy grabbed her and was trying to pull her away from the stairway(most likely referring to Rachel)..... Then I glanced to my left and saw another girl about 20 feet away from the stairs. She was bleeding from her shirt(definitely sounds like Ann Marie). Another guy was behind her, trying to pull her away from the stairs....."

IDed Klebold as shooting girl with a shotgun(he was leaning over) outside northwest cafeteria exit-it was Rachel Scott. In El Paso case core(pg 185) she denies identifying Scott, saying only that it was male or female(she probably meant Lance Kirklin).

"Adam described a female who he initially thought was Rachel Scott sitting on the grass area, just south of the outside stair case. He told me this female stood up and jokingly commented to Eric and Dylan(IDed 'via the media') "Do you guys want to fight? Do you want a piece of me?" At this point Adam sees Dylan raise some type of rifle, points it at the female who was standing south of them and fire one round. he told me(the IO) the female is shot, he believes in the stomach area and she falls to the sidewalk just south of the stair case....Adam told me an unidentified female, who he believes was with the shooting victim, runs over to her and rolls her over and then stands up and yells at Eric and Dylan, "You hurt her, she's bleeding." [They then turned their guns and shot Mark Taylor and Mike Johnson.] [Comment: This sounds like Ann Marie Hochalter and Kim Blair, although neither confirms this version in their own interviews.]

"Tyndall said she noticed another person standing on the hill. This person was shooting at people in the parking lot with a very long, black gun... Tyndall said she saw the shooter fire and hit a girl in the leg. The girl fell to the ground and an unidentified male student tried to assist her up. The unidentified male then ran back into the school. ....Tyndall stated she later learned that the girl she saw shot in the leg was Rachel Scott.(Note: Rachel did sustain a bullet wound to one of her legs. Ann Marie sustained no bullet wounds to the leg.)

"The boy in the trench coat turned to a girl and shot her in the leg. Senior Wade Frank watched as another boy ran to help the girl, bleeding on the curb. 'The trench coat walked up and shot the boy point blank in the back.' " (Note: Jason Autenrieth, who dragged Ann Marie for a couple of yards, was not injured, yet Castaldo was shot numerous times in the back.)

Outside, saw four people get hit with shots, including "one girl, a white female with brown hair, in the corner of the parking lot area." (Note: most descriptions of Ann Marie say she is a blonde.) Most eyewitnesses said the shots started around 11:15am, and that Rachel was the first person shot. Even if you lop another 10 minutes off the tape time it still doesn't fit. Sometimes I think what really happened on the west side of the school if far, far different than what we think.

A fair number of eyewitnesses say they were at the bottom of the stairs being shot at by gunmen at the top. Doty's interview is unique: he says he's at the top of the stairs being shot at by a gunman at the bottom!
"....he walked to the northwest side of the building to the top of the stairs, just outside the library.... He then saw "a male in a white T-shirt and blue jeans holding a hand gun walk from a corner near the cafeteria... He stated when this person walked around the corner, he fired a handgun at him, and he heard a bullet "whiz" by his head....... He stated this person was at the bottom of the stairs while he was on top, and there was about 20 yards in distance between them. He informed me he was walking DOWN towards the lunch area to meet Richard Casadilo(sic) and Rachel Scott for lunch when the incident started."
In other words, he didn't notice Scott and Castaldo just yards from him when he was at the top of the stairs!! But if had a lunch date with Castaldo and Scott, wouldn't he have known where to find them?? Nor did he see any other victim, either at the top of the stairs or at the bottom. A most perplexing interview!!

The official theory has Rachel sitting down when she received all of her wounds. But a few witnesses point to her running or walking when she was shot:

Brian Stepp-16, sophomore--He was standing in the soccer field: "One guy was wearing a black trench coat. He turned to a girl that was walking near him and he shot her eight times."
This definitely sounds like Rachel. Being the first one shot, she would not have been running like Hochalter said she was when she was shot. Also, Hochalter was definitely near the bottom of the stairs, and definitely not very close to her assailant. And she was not shot near as much as Rachel, who had about five seperate bullet wounds.

Says both bodies by west entrance(Castaldo and Scott) were loaded up into truck that got stuck.

"...Scott's corpse was lying west of the sidewalk at the top of the hill, where officers had left it after dragging it away from the west doors where Scott had been gunned down. After watching fleeing students run by Scott's body, some even jumping over it, two police officers were seen on news footage dragging Scott's body by its arms across the sidewalk behind the fire engine barrier."

Thanks Starviego...to be honest, these locations seemed so close I hadn't thought them important. I'll have to re-read.
I wonder what has happened to the question of the lunch receipt that was recorded for Rachel? Even though the time recorded needed to be adjusted to account for an inaccurate register time, there is still some question about the time Rachel was shot as well.
Question: was Richard's hair long like it is now? That might explain the blond and brunette quote you queried.
I hadn't come across most of the El Paso report information yet...thanks.

it would be critical to take into account the news casts video of rachel includding all the footage taken. The earliest pictures of her would be critical to this thread and ascertaining what happened by the earlist placement of her body in the footage.
One thing that strikes me about this thread is that Beth and Darrell, rachel's mom and dad are pretty content with the story of what happened to Rachel, in thta fact of where she died. There is a picture of Darrel standing on the spot where she died and if that spot is where rachel was shot and died, then all these things above could be sorted out to see what can be of aid and what needs to be thrown out. Surely many of them need to be thrown out...................

They say that Columbine, as a news story, had some of the highest ratings ever. There are probably days worth of news video that we will never see. How many times did cameras capture images of cops moving injured or dead kids around? I am not content with the police version of events. The cash register tape alone blows it out of the water. Ever notice how JeffCo never bothered explaining that discrepency? Is there one aspect of the Columbine massacre that isn't subject to controversy and differing versions of events? Could Rachel's death be linked to Danny's death? Is that why they moved her back to the library exit door? Not that I necessarily disbelieve the official version...sorry for rambling............

Thanks Starviego...to be honest, these locations seemed so close I hadn't thought them important. I'll have to re-read.
I wonder what has happened to the question of the lunch receipt that was recorded for Rachel? Even though the time recorded needed to be adjusted to account for an inaccurate register time, there is still some question about the time Rachel was shot as well.
Question: was Richard's hair long like it is now? That might explain the blond and brunette quote you queried.
I hadn't come across most of the El Paso report information yet...thanks.

it would be critical to take into account the news casts video of rachel includding all the footage taken. The earliest pictures of her would be critical to this thread and ascertaining what happened by the earlist placement of her body in the footage.
One thing that strikes me about this thread is that Beth and Darrell, rachel's mom and dad are pretty content with the story of what happened to Rachel, in thta fact of where she died. There is a picture of Darrel standing on the spot where she died and if that spot is where rachel was shot and died, then all these things above could be sorted out to see what can be of aid and what needs to be thrown out. Surely many of them need to be thrown out...................

They say that Columbine, as a news story, had some of the highest ratings ever. There are probably days worth of news video that we will never see. How many times did cameras capture images of cops moving injured or dead kids around? I am not content with the police version of events. The cash register tape alone blows it out of the water. Ever notice how JeffCo never bothered explaining that discrepency? Is there one aspect of the Columbine massacre that isn't subject to controversy and differing versions of events? Could Rachel's death be linked to Danny's death? Is that why they moved her back to the library exit door? Not that I necessarily disbelieve the official version...sorry for rambling............

This is a research site and no matter what the subject I know when I need a witness account with reference and page numbers of where it is found, I only need click on your posts. Saves a lot of time as opposed to searching notes and I trust the accuracy. If thats rambling......please ramble on.
