It was about 12:30 a.m. Sunday when a young man described by one witness as a "regular kid" knocked on the door at the Youth Wiith a Mission center, 12750 W. 63rd Ave., and asked if he could use the bathroom. Once inside the center, part of an international Christian missionary training program, he asked if he could spend the night.
As he stood in a common area, the young man described as in his 20s, wearing a dark jacket and dark beanie style hat asked if he could spend the night. Tiffany Johnson, the hospitality director, told the man that the building was not a shelter and that he could not stay there. According to Peter Warren, director of Youth with A Mission Denver, the man's response was swift.
"Then this is what I've got for you," the gunman reportedly said, and opened fire. ...Several of those who were at the center recognized the gunman he had hung out at the center on Saturday, said Cheryl Morrison, whose husband, George Morrison, is pastor of the Faith Bible Chapel, located about 300 yards away.
....As authorities searched for answers to two crimes that defied explanation, perhaps nothing illustrated just how bizarre the day was than a plea issued by Arvada Police Chief Don Wick.
All faith-based communities, he said, should be on the lookout for trouble.

--(#849)My sister in laws brother was shot in the one yesterday. He was the one that called 911 and reported the shooting. At the time he did not even know he had been shot (in the leg) while making the call. He said they did not know the killer. The killer just knocked on the door and asked if he could come in. The killer then started shooting.

Witnesses said the gunman, in his 20s and wearing a dark jacket and a dark skullcap, spoke to several staff members, insisting that he was not homeless and asking to spend the night. After a 30-minute discussion grew heated, he was turned away. When a staff member asked for help from others to usher him out, he drew a handgun, shot a woman and a man to death and wounded two other staff members.
[Comment: So he either started firing right away or he waited 30 minutes.]

....resident Stephanie Holman, 19, heard the knocking and assumed it was another resident who had been locked out. Holman let Murray in, then went to find another resident after he made her nervous, according to the affidavit.
Murray first said he needed to stay the night because he was in town from Oregon. Later he said he was going to stay a few hours while he waited for a ride.
Someone went to get Tiffany Johnson, the 26-year-old hospitality supervisor. Accompanied by staffer Daniel Griebenow, 23, Johnson told Murray he couldn't stay.

"As a skinhead and Goth in Washington, Pa., Philip Crouse was the one others feared. "He would come to youth group in a black trench coat," childhood friend Shiloh Ryan-Anikienko said Wednesday morning. "He really embraced being the Goth scary guy. ... He went from the dark lord from the abyss to this angel of light," Ryan-Anikienko said."
